We are pleased to be your premier bed and breakfast for rest, activities and nature in Bloomfield, Iowa.
Opened for business as a bed and breakfast in 2007 The Green Leaf Place is one of Bloomfield’s important historic properties. Built in the English tudor style with natural brick and oak trim in 1912 by Henry Clay Taylor, the original lot was 1 3/4 a. in size and included the presently standing two-story carriage house.
My wife and I have stayed here a handful of times over the past 5 years. Valerie and Gary are the owners and are really wonderful. We have found that most bed and breakfasts in small towns are usually tacky....the Greenleaf Place is not. It's tastefully decorated and restored with nice modern bathrooms. When you stay, ask about how they restored the house....also ask about the third floor theater where the locals used to gather to put on plays.
Breakfasts are great and they are very willing to accommodate special diets.
We stayed one night in the Presidential Room. Very comfortable king bed, spacious room with great walk in shower. The breakfast the next morning was excellent. We had our choice of two different home made quiches along with Apple pecan bread and fresh fruit. The hostess is very welcoming and made our visit extra special. The town of Bloomfield is fun to explore with a beautiful courthouse in the center of town. I highly recommend spending the night at the Green Leaf Place B&B.
Stayed April 2016, traveled as a couple
We were looking for a place to stay on our way to Eldon, Iowa and saw the Green Leaf Place on Trip Advisor with great reviews. So glad we stayed here! The home is gorgeous and being restored beautifully. We stayed in the Master Suite and enjoyed the sun porch and original bathroom with turn of the century bathtub and fixtures. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was a real treat and my husband said it was the best bacon he ever ate! Highly recommend a stay here!
